SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The administration is examining the status of all boards and commissions listed in the Toledo Municipal Code. In an effort to unify all working boards and commissions and to promote greater efficiencies, the Administration is seeking to consolidate the current Board of Community Relations, Affirmative Action, and the Youth Commission into one new single Board to be comprised of citizens representing various specific interests. This new board will serve the Administration in an advisory capacity and will promote amicable youth and community relations through positive measures and enhance favorable interracial and intercultural relationships in the City.

Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That Toledo Municipal Code Chapter 159 "Board of Community Relations and Affirmative Action" which states:

159.01. Creation; membership; term.
(a) Creation. A Board of Council is hereby created, titled Board of Community Relations (hereinafter called the Board), to consist of no more than twenty-six members, appointed by the Mayor and subject to confirmation by Council, as follows:
(1) Sixteen members nominated by community groups as specified in subsection (b) hereof;
(2) Eight members directly appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by Council; and
(3) Two youth members nominated by the Board from candidates submitted to it.
