A resolution recognizing The Islamic Food Bank of Toledo and The Islamic Center of Greater Toledo.
Summary
WHEREAS, “We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.” Quran 76:9; and
WHEREAS, the Islamic Food Bank of Toledo was established in September of 2008; and
WHEREAS, the Islamic Food Bank of Toledo strives to engage and empower their local Muslim community to provide hunger relief to their neighbors in the surrounding communities at-large; and
WHEREAS, the Islamic Food Bank of Toledo has a Mobile Food Bank that provides hot meals in Toledo on the Second Saturday of each month; and
WHEREAS, the Islamic Food Bank of Toledo provides food boxes to feed a family of four for one week, weekender food bags to children in schools, snacks to at-risk youth in after-school programs, hot meals daily during Ramadan, and fresh meat after Eid-al-Adha; and
WHEREAS, in 2017, the Islamic Food Bank of Toledo fed more than 50,000 people in the area; and
WHEREAS, the Islamic Food Bank of Toledo works to fulfill their Islamic duties to feed the hungry and spread peace; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That Toledo City Council hereby recognizes the Islamic Food Bank of Toledo for their continued service in our community.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
