SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
This Ordinance authorizes the reappropriation of funds within the Division of Solid Waste's General Fund budget. In order to address critical landfill machinery and equipment repairs, the Division plans to hire a heavy equipment mechanic. Currently repairs are completed by a third party. Solid Waste anticipates considerable savings by using city staff versus an outside vendor. This Ordinance reduces the contractual services budget and increases personnel services to fund the new position.
Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the disappropriation of $26,500 is authorized from the General Fund contractual services Account Code 1001-24500-537410-6232002STDSTD and the appropriation of $26,500 is authorized to the General Fund personnel services under Account Code 1001-24500-6232002STDSTD (personnel services) in order to fund a heavy equipment mechanic position; and the expenditure of same is authorized.
SECTION 2. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to timely address the critical machinery and equipment repairs in the Division of Solid Waste.
