Recognizing UT Student Athlete Janelle Noe.
Summary
WHEREAS, Janelle Noe is an exceptional student and record breaking athlete who has overcome extreme adversity to compete in the USA Track and Field Championships in the 1,500m on June 21, the first Rocket to qualify for this meet in 15 years; and
WHEREAS, Miss Noe is a graduate of Sylvania Northview High School and the University of Toledo, and is working toward her Master's Degree in Physical Therapy; and
WHEREAS, Miss Noe also
* Earned the best finish by a Rocket since 2007 at the NCAA Championship Finals on June 9, finishing 11th overall in the 1,500m, crossing the line in 4:20.37.
* Set the Mid-American Conference record in the 1,500m by finishing the NCAA Championship Prelims in 4:10.83 on June 7.
* Set the MAC Championship Meet record on May 12 with a time of 4:17.01 in the 1,500m, beating previous record by four seconds.
* Qualified for the NCAA Championships after finishing with a time of 4:16.34 at the NCAA East Prelims on May 24.
* Jumped into the 2018 season with a then-personal record of 4:18.56 in the 1,500m at the season-opening Raleigh Relays on March 30.
WHEREAS, Miss Noe has been recognized as Second-Team All-America Honors from the US Track & Field Association (USTFCCCA), named a Distinguished Scholar Athlete by the MAC, and named an All-American Individual by the USTFCCCA; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That we recognize Janelle Noe for the hard work, perseverance, and dedication to her sport and her team that she showed through her recovery and her training for this remarkable season.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
