SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

The Norfolk Southern Foundation has awarded the Toledo Police Department $3,000 from their local discretion grant fund. The grant funds will be used for the purchase of police equipment and supplies. There is no cash match and no in-kind match requirement.

 

Summary

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

SECTION 1.  That the Mayor is authorized to enter into a grant agreement and to accept and deposit grant proceeds from the Norfolk Southern Foundation in the amount of $3,000 into the Operation Grants Fund.

 

SECTION 2.  That the appropriation of $3,000 is authorized from the unappropriated grant proceeds of the Operation Grants Fund to various accounts within Account Code 2016-52000-3G00187STDSTD; and further authorizing the expenditure of same for the purchase of police equipment and supplies.

 

SECTION 3. That the Mayor is authorized to accept bids and award contracts according to law or as necessary enter into contracts with sole source providers, for the purchase of various supplies, equipment, and services necessary under the terms proscribed by the Director of Law.

 

SECTION 4.  That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage.  The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property, and to operate and continue the program through the grant period.
