SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The Lucas County Metropolitan Housing Authority (LMHA) has provided funds for the purpose of creating a drug and crime-free environment, and for the safety and protection of the residents of public housing developments. The City has had an agreement with LMHA for the payment of one-half the salary and fringe benefits of six officers assigned to LMHA. LMHA has shared the labor cost of officers assigned there since 1996.
Summary
NOW THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into a services agreement for 2018 with LMHA; and to accept and deposit an amount of $281,604.12 into the General Fund 1001-52000-3381002STDSTD from LMHA to offset the cost of certain police services in 2018.
SECTION 2. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that same is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property and to have an agreement with LMHA and continue the program.
