SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The Ohio EPA requires every microbiological water lab to have an autoclave and a backup unit for waste disinfection, sample preparation, and labware sterilization.
Summary
NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into a three (3) year autoclave maintenance agreement for the purpose of providing maintenance to autoclaves currently installed and in use in the Collins Water Treatment Plant Lab, upon terms and conditions acceptable to the Director of Public Utilities and the Director of Law.
SECTION 2. That subject to annual appropriation the expenditure in the amount not to exceed $49,452 is authorized from the Water Operating Fund, Account Code 6060-32000-4000503STDSTD, for the purpose of providing maintenance to autoclaves currently installed and in use in the Collins Water Treatment Plant Lab.
SECTION 3. That this Council finds and determines it is in the best interest of the City to waive the competitive procurement provisions of TMC Chapter 187 for the reason that Getinge USA Sales, LLC has the parts, supplies and training to maintain and repair the two units, has maintained it since 2003, and is best suited to continue maintaining the autoclaves.
SECTION 4. That the Director of Finance is authorized to draw their warrant or warrants against the Account Code listed in Section 1 in an amount not to exceed $49,452 in payment of the above authorized obligations upon presentation of proper voucher or vouchers...
