Celebrating the Techledo Music Festival.
Summary
WHEREAS, Techledo is a free music festival based in Toledo that bring lovers of electronic music to the Glass City Metropark for a full day of family-friendly fun, music and dancing; and
WHEREAS, Techledo was founded around 2015 by local DJ Dennis Cox with the help of his wife Darlene, and now includes business partners Kristen Comer and Doug Hinebaugh; and
WHEREAS, founders Darlene and Dennis say they got the idea for Techledo back in 2000, when they were volunteering at the Detroit Music Festival, and told each other, “This is amazing, why shouldn’t we bring this to Toledo, too?”; and
WHEREAS, this summer, Techledo Music Festival returned to Toledo and featured 11 DJ’s, comprised of a mix of local and midwestern artists, and had approximately 500 attendees; and
WHEREAS, this year, the profits from Techledo went to sponsoring Good Natured, a Metroparks women’s affinity group that fosters deeper connections between its members with nature and promotes environmental causes; and
WHEREAS, Darlene Cox says “Techledo is about diversity, unity, and dance- just bringing people together and giving back- that’s our cause.”
NOW THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1: That we recognize the founders of Techledo for their incredible dedication and creativity, as they’ve brought an exciting, positive cultural event to Toledo, and will do so for the foreseeable future.
