Recognizing Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio.

Summary
WHEREAS, on December 9, 1982, the first Ronald McDonald House in Northwest Ohio, and the fifth in the state, opened its doors to serve families in need; Toledo's home marked the 44th house in the United States; and

WHEREAS, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio was established in 1996 through a merger of the Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Children's Charities, allowing for the expansion of its programs; and
WHEREAS, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio, Toledo Chapter, offers a "home away from home" at the Ronald McDonald House; a fully equipped medical clinic on wheels known as the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile; and the Ronald McDonald Hospitality Suite and Hospitality Cart, located at Ebeid Children's Hospital, providing comfort, care, a rest stop and resource center for families in the hospital; and
WHEREAS, in May 2014, ground was broken to build a new Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio facility, and in 2015, a state-of-the-art, 38,000-square-foot house opened, doubling the number of rooms available to families from 14 to 28; and
WHEREAS, in the year 2024 alone, the organization served 478 families, with an average stay of 14.5 nights, totaling 6,754 family nights, made possible through the support of 2,150 volunteers, donors, and fundraising events; and
WHEREAS, with each passing day, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio continues to fulfill its mission of enriching the lives of children by providing comfort, care, and support to families, ensuring children have access to quality healthcare.
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
