Summary
SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
WHEREAS, Leonard H. Rosenberg was born in February of 1953 and passed away in May of 2022, and throughout his life became a beloved friend, companion and pioneering entrepreneur; and

WHEREAS, during Lenard's earlier years through Toledo Public Schools he grew to become a very competitive swimming champion with the Glass City Aquatic Club having ranked in the top 20 in the United States with the YMCA, and he placed third in 1975 with the state of Ohio; and

WHEREAS, with the encouragement of his parents, Leonard, along with his brother Murry ventured into entrepreneurship when they purchased the Toledo Academy of Beauty and Culture located in downtown Toledo on St. Clair St. Over the next several years the brothers expanded the business to include four locations making it one of the largest beauty school chains in the Midwest, and "Lenny" or "Mr. Len" as he was affectionately known by family, coworkers and friends became a licensed cosmetologist and instructor to further understand the trade. Mr. Len was also elected as the youngest member to the National Teacher's Educational Council and is credited with training over 10,000 students under his leadership; and

WHEREAS, additionally, anyone who knew Lenny knew how much he adored his furry friends, both canine and feline alike, so much so that he has bequeathed a substantial endowment that will now annually serve to benefit the City of Toledo Department of Parks & Youth Services, as well as the Toledo Police Department Canine Unit for years to come.

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That we recognize and salute the accomplishments of Leonard H. Rosenberg and honor his legacy of community service.
