There is no policy or industry standard for replacement. When determining vehicle replacement cycles, Fleet Operations considers the type of use, mileage, maintenance, and repair costs. Based on the continuous use, mileage, maintenance and repair costs the city has determined it is most effective to replace police vehicles at the three-year mark.
Below is a list of vehicles recommended for replacement:
2014 Taurus, average mileage 164,498 - 17 vehicles in service, 15 need to be replaced
2014 Explorers, average mileage 238,763 - 14 vehicles in service, 13 need to be replaced
2015 Explorers, average mileage 118,351 - 2 vehicles in service, both needs replaced (K-9 Units)
2017 Explorers, average mileage184,840 - 24 vehicles in service, 22 need to be replaced
2020 Explorers, average mileage 101,652 - 14 vehicles in service, 7 need to be replaced

2022 Explorers, average mileage 88,972 - 43 vehicles in service, 22 need to be replaced
