SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The City of Toledo Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), applied for and received an award from the Ohio Department of Health (ODH). This grant will allow the DHCD to expand its efforts to combat lead poisoning by supporting various primary prevention activities, including; promoting the Ohio Lead-Safe Housing Registry, community education and outreach, the Lead Stabilization Grant, equipment and tracking software.

The financial impact of this Ordinance is the receipt of $1,053,800 from the Ohio Department of Health for the Department of Housing and Community Development to administer the Lead Safe Housing Fund Community Primary Prevention Grant to make homes lead safe.

Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into a Grant Agreement with the Ohio Department of Health in an amount not to exceed $1,053,800, for the purpose of funding and implementing the Lead Safe Housing Fund Community Primary Prevention program.

SECTION 2. That the acceptance and deposit of $1,053,800 into Account Code 2016-16200-5GL7023LSHODH is authorized.

SECTION 3. That the appropriation in the amount of $1,053,800 for the Lead Safe Housing Fund Community Primary Prevention Grant is authorized from the unappropriated grant proceeds into Account Code 2016-16200-5GL7023LSHODH; and further authorizing the expenditure of same.
