Recognizing SSOE Group on its 75th Anniversary.
Summary
WHEREAS, SSOE Group Inc., originally known as A.H. Samborn and Associates is celebrating 75 years of providing high quality engineering and eventually architecture and design services, headquartered in downtown Toledo; and
WHEREAS, Al Samborn returned from his service in World War II to Toledo and shortly after signed his first contract with Spurgeon Conveyor the first step towards the lasting legacy that became SSOE; and
WHEREAS, in the late fifties the SSOE name was solidified when Samborn and Steketee added Erwin J. Otis, Jr. and John H.V. Evans, creating SSOE; and
WHEREAS, between 1987 and 2020 SSOE acquired or opened locations in Nashville, Tennessee; Troy, Michigan; Mumbai, India; Birmingham and Huntsville, Alabama, Leon, Mexico; and 100-year-old design firm with locations in Atlanta, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina; and
WHEREAS, in 2021, with a look toward the future SSOE adopted a new mission statement "to deliver unparalleled client value that advances the AEC industry" and named Catherine Myers as first women president and first woman to chair its Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, again in 2022, with a focus on the future SSOE celebrated Earth Day by signing Architecture 2030 Challenge and Science Based Target Initiative commitment letters which acknowledge the importance of reducing emissions; and
WHEREAS, in 2023, SSOE celebrates seventy-five years in business and commemorates the accomplishment of serving the world through thoughtful engineering, design, and implementation by hosting events across the organization throughout the year namely with the press event on Tuesday, August 8, and being recognized before Toledo City Council on Tuesday, August 15; NOW, THEREFORE,
