Body
SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The City of Toledo Division of Parks, Recreation and Forestry is working to reestablish organized athletic opportunities for the youth of Toledo. In order to generate excitement specifically around the sport of baseball, our efforts need a champion. This champion must have credentials, charisma, the respect of many, and the passion for the work to be done. That person is Mr. Chester Trail.
A former professional baseball player, Mr. Trail played for numerous teams during his career, and was declared eligible for the New York Yankees roster for the 1964 World Series. He currently serves as the Bishop of Church of Grace, and works as the Diversity Director with the Sylvania School system. In his role as Toledo's Ambassador of Youth Baseball, Mr. Trail will work to promote youth involvement by visiting local schools to publicize the new youth baseball league, and interfacing with appropriate publicity outlets. His responsibilities will also include regular consultation with the Parks and Recreation Division to inform league formation and growth efforts, host informational meetings for parents within the community, and oversee the development of both players and coaches by hosting clinics and/or camps.
