Title
Amending Ordinance 67-24; and declaring an emergency.
Body
SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The South Toledo Gateway Project aims to elevate one of the City's primary gateways from Maumee through the installation of TOLEDO letters positioned prominently above the Anthony Wayne Trail on the Chessie Circle Trail bridge. This collaborative project is being undertaken in partnership with Metroparks Toledo, which will install complementary signage adjacent to the City's letters, further enhancing the significance of this gateway into the City.
Ordinance 67-24 authorized $30,000 for the project. However, the lowest and best bid came in at $30,100. Therefore, this Ordinance seeks to amend Ordinance 67-24 to increase the authorized amount by $100.00 to allow the project to move forward.
On November 15, 2024, the District Improvement Review Committee reviewed the application and recommended its approval for $30,100 in funding.
The proposed improvements include installing restored "TOLEDO" letters, landscaping, irrigation, lighting, and signage, all designed to create a memorable and appealing gateway experience.
