Submitting to the Toledo City Plan Commission an amendment to TMC to add an 1102.1700 IE; Innovation and Employment District, to the base zoning districts; authorizing a public hearing on said text amendment and publication of said hearing; and declaring an emergency.
SUMMARY & BACKGROUND
The Toledo City Council proposes a text amendment to Toledo Municipal Code subsection 1102.17 Zoning Designations.
Toledo City Council would like the Plan Commission to study the benefits of and report back on the creation of a specific innovation & employment designation into Toledo's zoning code. The Plan Commission is requested to express their thoughts on the best place in the city for this designation or perhaps which areas of the city it would best be implemented. Council is looking to foster economic growth, attract talent, and promote a vibrant and forward-thinking community. Toledo Regional Chamber expresses; "By explicitly recognizing and encouraging innovation zones, the message will be sent to perspective companies and investors that Toledo is inviting and welcoming creativity, technological advancement, and economic development. As we strive to position our city as a world leader in innovation, it is imperative that we take proactive steps to harness the potential opportunities. "
