SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
By agreement effective November 2, 1999, the District Advisory Committee for the Lucas County General Health District, the Board of Commissioners of Lucas County, Ohio and the cities of Toledo, Maumee, Sylvania, and Oregon established a general health district. Waterville, Ohio joined the district in 2012.
The position of Health Commissioner, the Chief Administrative Officer of the general health district is currently vacant and a search for qualified candidates is necessary. Due to the unique nature of the Health Commissioner's responsibilities and the significant impact the position has on the health and safety of residents living in the political jurisdictions and unincorporated areas served by the Toledo-Lucas County Board of Health, the City of Toledo ("City"), and Lucas County ("County") wish to enter into an agreement to equally share the cost of a search firm.
The City will reimburse the Toledo-Lucas County Board of Health up to $25,000 for the engagement of a search firm to provide qualified candidates for the currently vacant position of Health Commissioner. By this agreement the County also agrees to reimburse the Board of Health in an equal amount up to $25,000.
