Title
Authorizing the mayor to enter into cooperative grant agreements with and accept financial assistance from the State of Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) for the Schneider Road Sidewalk Project; authorizing the acceptance, deposit, appropriation and expenditure of grant proceeds into the Capital Improvement Fund in an amount not to exceed $400,000; authorizing the mayor to execute all necessary documentation for the grants; authorizing the mayor to accept bids and award contracts related to the construction; and declaring an emergency.

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The Division of Engineering Services has been working closely with ODOT to secure grant funding through the Safe Routes to School Program for a new sidewalk on Schneider Road from Byrne Road to Detroit Ave. A maximum of $400,000 has been allocated for the project. A 10% match will be provided through the Division of Engineering Services Matches and Planning budget.
Passage of this ordinance is required to enable the City of Toledo to accept outside funding for these projects and have it in place to help pay for these expenditures.
