Authorizing the Mayor to enter into an amended agreement with and to accept additional grant funding from the State of Ohio, Department of Transportation (ODOT) for an amount not to exceed $896,148 for the construction of a multi-use path across the Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) bridge; authorizing the acceptance, deposit, appropriation and expenditure of grant proceeds into the Capital Improvement Fund for said project; authorizing the Mayor to accept bids and award contracts related to the construction of said project; and declaring an emergency.

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The Division of Road and Bridge Maintenance in cooperation with Toledo Metroparks is constructing a multi-use path across the MLK Bridge. Ordinance 577-23 authorized acceptance of a grant for $1,483,659 from Metroparks and a grant for $4,237,615 from ODOT. Ordinance 162-24 authorized acceptance of an additional grant for $1,622,107 from ODOT. Ordinance 345-24 authorized acceptance of an additional grant for $500,000 from a Congressional Earmark for the MLK Bridge project. Ordinance 94-24 authorized expenditure of matching funds through the Division of Road and Bridge Maintenance Matches and Planning fund. An additional $896,148 has been awarded by ODOT through the Local Major Bridge Program. This ordinance authorizes the Mayor to accept and expend these funds.
Summary
NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into an amended agreement with and to accept and deposit additional proceeds from ODOT in an amount not to exceed $896,148 for the construction of the multi-use path across the MLK Bridge Project upon such terms and conditions as approved by the Director of Transportation and the Director of Law.
