Authorizing the Mayor to enter into a cooperative grant agreement with and accept financial assistance from the Metropolitan Park District of the Toledo Area (Metroparks) for a temporary traffic calming project; authorizing the acceptance, deposit, appropriation and expenditure of grant proceeds into the Capital Improvement Fund in an amount not to exceed $60,000; authorizing the Mayor to execute all necessary documentation for the grants; authorizing the Mayor to accept bids and award contracts related to the design and implementation of the project; and declaring an emergency.

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The Divisions of Traffic Management and Road and Bridge Maintenance have been working to secure federal grant funding for a temporary traffic calming and safety project on North Summit Street. A grant was obtained for a portion of the project through the National Main Street Center to be used between Cherry and Olive. An additional $60,000 has been allocated by the Metropolitan Park District of the Toledo Area (Metroparks) to help extend the temporary traffic calming project on North Summit, between Olive St. and Bush. Matching funds are not required for this grant and work will be done by crews from the Division of Traffic Management and the Division of Road and Bridge Maintenance. This project is required to be implemented before December 31, 2026.
Passage of this ordinance is required to enable the City of Toledo to accept outside funding for these projects and have it in place to help pay for these expenditures.
