Submitting to the Toledo City Plan Commission a request for a review of proposed text amendments to Toledo Municipal Code Sections 1104, 1111, 1116 applicable to zoning and schools; authorizing a public hearing on said text amendments and publication of said hearing; and declaring an emergency.
Summary
WHEREAS, the education of our children remains one of the highest priorities in our society; and
WHEREAS, the education system has changed greatly over the years and students and their families have more educational choices now in terms of types and kinds of schools to attend than ever before; and
WHEREAS, there should be equality in the educational resources provided to school children; and
WHEREAS, this theory of equality should also extend to the buildings and facilities our children attend and utilize for their education; and
WHEREAS, it is important that the buildings that house schools be zoned, constructed, improved and maintained in the safest and code compliant manner; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the Toledo City Plan Commission review zoning regulations and schools as contained in Toledo Municipal Code Sections 1104, 1111, 1116.
SECTION 2. That the request for proposed text amendments is hereby referred to the Toledo City Plan Commission for its review, recommendation and appropriate hearing date. That a public hearing upon a proposed ordinance to effectuate the above described change shall be held in the Council Chambers at One Government Center and the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to give notice of the time and place of said hearing in the manner required by the law.
