Title
Authorizing the appropriation of $1,400,000 in the Municipal Garage Fund for city-wide fuel purchases; authorizing the appropriation of $1,400,000 in various city funds for internal service fuel chargebacks; increasing the Municipal Garage Fund revenue estimate; and declaring an emergency.

Body
SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
Rising fuel costs have directly impacted operational expenses, pushing the City’s fuel expenditures well beyond original forecasts. In order to continue operations, additional budget will be needed.

Summary
NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the appropriation of an amount not to exceed $1,400,000 is authorized in the Municipal Garage Fund to Account Code 7086-25000-1147001STDSTD for the purchase of fuel.

SECTION 2. That the appropriation of $1,400,000 is authorized from the funds and in the amounts identified in the attached Schedule A for the chargeback of the internal service fund fuel costs identified in Section 1 and that the revenue estimate for the Municipal Garage Fund is increased in the amount of $1,400,000 to reflect said chargebacks.

SECTION 3. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that the same is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for further reason that the Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to allow for the purchase of fuel for city operations.
