Recognizing Sharon Speyer on the occasion of her retirement as president of Huntington Bank's Northwest Ohio region.

Summary
WHEREAS, Sharon Speyer has been a force in the Toledo and northwest Ohio banking community for over two decades; and

WHEREAS, with a zeal for public service inherited from her father, along with a determined and competitive nature, Sharon acquired her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from The Ohio State University and eventually her Juris Doctorate from The University of Toledo; and

WHEREAS, since then and over the decades Sharon has excelled to drive the direction of local banking and access to banking services, and she has built relationships that have resulted in both the growth of Huntington Bank as well as new cooperation and development around parks and civic projects aimed at bettering the lives of our residents; and

WHEREAS, under her leadership, Ms. Speyer has facilitated increasing local consumer deposits from $3.6 billion to $5.4 billion. Under her leadership Huntington has the most branches of any bank in Toledo with an ongoing initiative to continue increasing banking services to underserved communities. One of the projects she remains most proud of in her position as Director of Economic Inclusion in charge of community development, philanthropy, volunteering and connection to community and neighborhood groups, is the naming rights that Huntington acquired for the downtown arena, the "Huntington Center", that hosts concerts, events, and the Toledo Walleye hockey team; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Speyer continues to serve on numerous boards including The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, the Toledo Museum of Art, the Regional Growth Partnership Executive Committee and she is the board chair of ConnecToledo; NOW, THEREFORE,
