SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
A District Improvement Program application has been submitted for a pilot project including the development and installation of interpretive signage intended to facilitate park wayfinding for residents with sight impairments. The signage will assist with navigation and interpretation of the features at three parks. The Division of Parks and Recreation will enter into a 5-year subscription for these services. Toledo, Ohio will be the first parks department in the State of Ohio to implement this technology.
The pilot project is being implemented at three parks:
- Ottawa Park in Council District 1
- Navarre Park in Council District 3
- Pontiac Preserve in Council District 4
The District Improvement Review Committee convened on August 11, 2026, and recommended approval of this application in an amount of $13,600.
Summary
NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into the necessary contracts with RightHear from the District Improvement Program for the stated purposes, upon such terms and conditions as shall be approved by the Director of Public Service and the Director of Law.
SECTION 2. That an amount not to exceed $5,450 is authorized for expenditure from the Capital Improvement Fund Account Code 5040-10100-8CPDNGPRODST1; $2,700 is authorized for expenditure from the Capital Improvement Fund Account Code 5040-10100-8CPDNGPRODST3; and $5,450 is authorized for expenditure from the Capital Improvement Fund Account Code 5040-1...
