Summary

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

WHEREAS, WGTE's FM 91’s Fritz Byers is celebrating 35 years as host of the Jazz Spectrum show; and

 

WHEREAS, Fritz hails from the Sunflower State of Kansas, is a Duke University and Harvard Law School alum; and after he started practicing law in the Toledo area, he took his love for Jazz and proposed a new radio show on WGTE's FM 91; and

WHEREAS, Jazz Spectrum was born when it began airing on April 1, 1989, and now, to celebrate 35 years of jazz on FM 91, Byers and WGTE agreed to expand the show in April of 2024 when Jazz Spectrum could now be listened to on Friday and Saturday evenings from 8 - 12 p.m., and overnight from 12 - 4 a.m.; and

WHEREAS, in addition, Fritz has also started a Jazz Spectrum blog, where he and other jazz enthusiasts can expand upon thoughts and topics from that week’s radio show.

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it Resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo, Ohio:

SECTION 1.  That we recognize and congratulate Fritz Byers on his 35 years as host of WGTE's FM 91’s Jazz Spectrum show and look forward to 35 more years of enjoying his expanded program.

SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
