Authorizing and supporting Woodlawn Cemetery to preserve land in the City of Toledo.

Summary
WHEREAS, Woodlawn Cemetery Association (the Cemetery) is a charitable organization whose mission is to preserve and perpetuate its historic cemetery, in a park like setting for the benefit of its families and community; and

WHEREAS, the Clean Ohio Green Space Conservation Program (Clean Ohio) helps to fund preservation of open spaces, sensitive ecological areas and stream corridors; and

WHEREAS, the Cemetery intends to submit an application to Clean Ohio to acquire fee title to property located in The City of Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio and owned by the City of Toledo; and

WHEREAS, the property consists of approximately 11.897 acres of in wooded condition; and

WHEREAS, the Cemetery's purchase of the above named property will provide recreational and aesthetic preservation benefits to the residents of the City of Toledo; and

WHEREAS, the Cemetery's purchase of the above named property will permanently protect this valuable resource; NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That Toledo City Council fully supports Woodlawn Cemetery Association's application to the Clean Ohio Green Space Conservation Program for this project.

SECTION 2. That it is found and determined that all formal actions of this City Council, City of Toledo, County of Lucas, State of Ohio concerning the adoption of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Toledo City Council, and that all deliberations of this Toledo City Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action, were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.

SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
