SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The Old Orchard Neighborhood Association submitted a District Improvement Program (DIP) application to provide funding to install decorative columns and landscaping at Goddard Field. The District Improvement Review Committee convened on September 5, 2023, and recommended approval of this application in an amount of $134,624.99. Ordinance 462-23 authorized the expenditure of DIP funds for this project.
Goddard Field serves as an important entry point to the Old Orchard neighborhood. This installation serves to enhance the identity of this proud Toledo community. The DIP allocation will fund the entire cost of the project.
During the installation of landscape material associated with this project, it was determined the soil present in the flower beds was of such poor quality that it would not support healthy plant material. Fresh topsoil will be brought into the site to ensure the landscape beds can be maintained in a healthy condition. Furthermore, the neighborhood requested that 2 more flower beds be added to the scope of work to further enhance the project. This Ordinance authorizes the expenditure of an additional $12,500 to pay for the additional costs of the topsoil and flowerbed components of the project.
NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the expenditure of $12,500 is authorized from the Capital Improvement Fund Account Code 5040-16400-8CP2132DNGPRO for the Goddard Field improvement project.
