SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
Councilwoman Vanice Williams requests that the City install LED street lighting to help protect the properties and provide nighttime safety for the residents that live adjacent to the alley bounded by Columbia St., Ashland Ave., Fulton St. & W. Bancroft St. This ordinance authorizes the installation of six (6) streetlights to better illuminate the area.
The total annual cost for the operation and maintenance of the lighting is $834.30 of which the City's share is $36.64. Additionally, there is a one-time installation cost of $5,500.00 to be paid from the General Fund.
Summary
NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That it is hereby determined to proceed with the improvement of the following lots and lands by installing street lighting, as described below, pursuant to the authority cited below and in accordance with Resolution No 425-25, adopted on September 23, 2025, and in accordance with plans, specifications, and estimates heretofore approved and on file in the Division of Engineering and Construction Management.
A. The alley bounded by Columbia St., Ashland Ave., Fulton St. & W. Bancroft St., by installing six (6) 90-watt, LED cobra-style streetlights on wood poles with overhead service.
SECTION 2. That the plans, specifications, and cost estimates for this proposed improvement, which are on file in the Division of Engineering and Construction Management, are approved.
