SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The City of Toledo IT Department utilizes Sophos for anti-virus software to protect all City of Toledo-issued computers. Sophos also provides centralized management of Bitlocker encryption keys which will aid in keeping all City of Toledo hard drives encrypted so all information is safe in the event of loss or theft.
The IT Department would like to engage in a three-year agreement with SHI which is a state-term and MBE vendor for Sophos, which allows for discounted annual payments to be made to SHI for the software. The annual payments would be less than the annual payment with a one-year contract. The total for the three-year agreement is $196,540.11 with payments made to SHI in the amount of $65,513.37 annually.
Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into a contract utilizing cooperative purchasing agreements for information technology security software to provide end-user device malware protection and hard drive encryption, upon terms and conditions acceptable to the Director of Information Technology and Director of Law.
SECTION 2. That, subject to annual appropriation, the expenditure of $65,513.37 annually is authorized from the Information and Communications Technology Fund 7084-17500-1144007ITSAAS for information technology security software to provide end-user device malware protection and hard drive encryption.
