Title
Authorizing the application for funding from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources' Nature Works grant to construct improvements for the outdoor amphitheater in Ottawa Park; and declaring an emergency.
Summary
WHEREAS, the State of Ohio, through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, administers financial assistance for public recreation purposes, through the State of Ohio Nature Works Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, the Ottawa-Jermain Park Advisory Board, in cooperation with the Division of Parks, Recreation and Forestry, has applied for a grant to fund the construction of improvements to the amphitheater in Ottawa Park; and
WHEREAS, the grant application must include a formal resolution indicating approval by the host municipality to apply for the funding for the target project; and
WHEREAS, improvements to the amphitheater include sewer construction, rebuilding and repairing stone walls and steps, and electrical improvements, all in the interest of safety; and
WHEREAS, the amount of up to $196,000 is being applied for in this 27th round of the Nature Works grant and that the City of Toledo is committed to matching funds of up to $50,000, or 25% of the overall project amount; and
WHEREAS, the City of Toledo Division of Parks, Recreation and Forestry, desires financial assistance under the Nature Works Grant Program; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to file a Nature Works Grant Program application with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for the Ottawa Park amphitheater improvement project.
