SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
This Ordinance authorizes the Toledo Police Department to participate in a study of drone technology efficacy with Flock Group, Inc. This yearlong study would provide the Toledo Police Department with automated drone technology that combines aerial intelligence with Flock Safety’s video, audio detection, and leading LPR network to provide real-time situational awareness and rapid response capabilities for enhanced community safety. There is no cost to the City of Toledo for the year-long use of the drone.
Summary
NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into an agreement with Flock Group, Inc. for the facilitation of a year-long study on the efficacy of drone technology at no cost to the City of Toledo, upon terms and conditions acceptable to the Director of Police and the Director of Law.
SECTION 2. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to timely begin the study.
