Recognizing the Toledo Unified Basketball Team for Winning the 2025 National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association Championship
Summary
WHEREAS, the Toledo Unified Basketball Team, comprised of Special Olympics athletes and University of Toledo students, demonstrated exceptional athletic skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship during the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) National Tournament held in Madison, Wisconsin; and
WHEREAS, this extraordinary team represented not only our community, but also the spirit of inclusion; and;
WHEREAS, their victory reflects positively on the University of Toledo, Lucas County Special Olympics and the community by how individuals of all abilities can come together to achieve excellence; and
WHEREAS, the Toledo Unified team defeated three teams, winning by at least a 20-point margin, and faced a unified team from the University of Iowa to win the national championship; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Toledo would like to commend all of the Unified Basketball team members for their dedication, sportsmanship, and representation of Toledo in the 2025 NIRSA championship.
NOW THEREFORE, Be it resolved that:
SECTION 1: That we recognize and celebrate the Toledo Unified Basketball Team on their 2025 National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association championship.
