SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The purpose of this legislation is to authorize the Toledo Police Department to donate lab equipment that is no longer utilized by the Toledo Police Forensics Lab. This equipment will be used by Bowling Green State University and Tiffin University students. Students will be able to experience hands on learning of theoretical concepts. The approximate current value of this equipment is $9,000. The donation consists of a Leica comparison microscope, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometer and several small pieces of lab equipment.
Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the donation of retired lab equipment from the Toledo Police Forensic Lab is authorized to Bowling Green State University and Tiffin University for the sum of zero dollars and no cents.
SECTION 2. That the transfer of the equipment from the City of Toledo inventory to Bowling Green State University and Tiffin University by donation is authorized to be made.
SECTION 3. That is found and determined that the equipment is no longer needed for a municipal purpose and its donation promotes the public purpose of higher education in the community.
SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
