Recognizing the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department Recruitment Bureau.
Summary
WHEREAS, Toledo Fire and Rescue Department Class #294 is recognized as the most diverse fire class in the history of the City of Toledo; and
WHEREAS, the TFRD Recruitment Bureau formed by Chief Brian Byrd and led by Battalion Chief Daniel Brown-Martinez is staffed by Private Jill Hoffman, Private Adam Thal, Private Evan Back, Private Gina Shubeta, and Private Scott Martin; and
WHEREAS, in a world where representation and diversity has become ever more important, especially in the field of public service, TFRD Class #294 represents members of the African American, Asian, Caucasian, Latinx, and Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander cultures as well as two military veterans and thirteen women; and
WHEREAS, the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department is part of the fabric of the community, it is important for those who serve our community every day to reflect the people they serve; and
WHEREAS, with continued effort, our city can continue to close the gap in representation and be an example of the best of the City of Toledo; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That Toledo City Council does hereby recognize the accomplishment of making diversity a priority in the recruitment of the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
