SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The Kapszukiewicz Administration has recruited a new Chief of Staff for whom the maximum annual salary of $119,129 currently allowed for this position is not sufficient to attract that candidate. This ordinance is intended to waive the annual maximum rate of pay as authorized by Section 2101.74 of the Toledo Municipal Code and allow the Mayor to award an annual salary of up to $125,000 for Chief of Staff position.
Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the annual maximum rate of pay for Salary Group E-4 shall be and hereby is waived for the Chief of Staff.
SECTION 2. That the Mayor is authorized to negotiate an annual maximum salary rate for the Chief of Staff of an amount not to exceed $125,000 per year.
SECTION 3. That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure, and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property; and that it is essential to properly attract and retain at a competitive pay rate the Chief of Staff.
