SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

Julie Robinson brought personal injury claims against the City of Toledo after she was injured in a motor vehicle accident involving a city vehicle in 2019. After a related jury trial in the Lucas County Common Pleas Court in Case No. G-4801-CI-0202402120-000, the parties mediated the case and agreed to settle all of Ms. Robinson's claims against the City for $750,000 conditioned upon the passage of this Ordinance.

Summary
NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That payment of $750,000 in settlement of Julie Robinson's claims against the City of Toledo is approved and the expenditure of same is authorized from the Risk Management Fund Account Code 7095-12000-1157001STDSTD.

SECTION 2. That the Mayor is authorized to execute all necessary documents to effectuate the settlement agreement upon such terms as are acceptable to the Law Director.

SECTION 3. That payment of these claims is contingent upon the execution of the proper release by Ms. Robinson.

SECTION 4. That the Director of Finance is authorized to draw a warrant or warrants to Julie Robinson and her attorney Elk & Elk Co. LTD in the sum of $600,000 and to Athene Qualified Assignment Corporation in the sum of $150,000 against the above-referenced Account Code upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.

SECTION 5. That this Ordinance being an emergency measure shall be in force and effect from and after its passage.
