SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
This ordinance authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Auto Return US, LLC for a three-year vehicle tow management agreement. Auto Return US LLC enables more efficient response to towing requests, reducing the amount of time police wait for tow trucks and improving officer safety. This agreement is expected to be cost neutral to the City of Toledo. An administrative fee of twenty dollars is collected for each vehicle towed to the Toledo Police Impound Lot. Bidding was conducted on Planet Bids and Auto Return US LLC was the winning bidder.

Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into a three-year vehicle towing management agreement, upon terms and conditions acceptable to the Director of Police and the Director of Law.

SECTION 2. That subject to future appropriations the total amount not to exceed $602,178.75 is authorized for expenditure from the Municipal Tow Lot Fund Account Code 607T-52000-3391001STDSTD for the three-year agreement.

SECTION 3. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into an agreement and to accept and deposit $30,000 from the Lucas County Sheriff's Office for year-one Auto Return US LLC start-up costs into the Municipal Tow Lot Fund Account Code 607T-52000-3391001STDSTD.
