Summary

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

WHEREAS, located in the north of the state of Paraná in the south region of Brazil, Londrina is a beautiful city known for its coffee-growing, the vast Lake Igapó, and cultural diversity; and

 

WHEREAS, in 1974 the City of Toledo, Ohio and Londrina, Brazil committed to an on-going collaboration in cultural exchange, education, music, art, and economic development, officially becoming Sister Cities; and

 

WHEREAS, Toledo City Council welcomes the entire Londrina delegation this week, including Mayor Marcelo Belinati Martins, President of Londrina City Council Emanoel Gomes, Secretary of Londrina City Hall Joao Luis Martins Esteves, and President of ACIL Angelo Pamplona; and

 

WHEREAS, Toledo City Council is grateful to Toledo Sister Cities International and its many volunteers who make relationships such as the Toledo-Londrina Sister City partnership a reality;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:

                     SECTION 1. That the Toledo City Council welcomes our visitors from Londrina, Brazil and cherishes the Sister City relationship, now in its 50th year.
