Imploring the four named Toledo City Council Members to resign their positions on Toledo City Council.
Summary
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Toledo is an elected body with the responsibility of carrying out the legislative process of the City of Toledo; and
WHEREAS, as elected officials, the Citizens of Toledo expect their representatives to be held to a certain standard of ethical responsibility; and
WHEREAS, although all people are innocent until proven guilty in the court of law; we as public officials must maintain a high standard that cannot be upheld during criminal investigations and proceedings; and
WHEREAS, although we believe in the due process of the criminal justice system we implore the four named Toledo City Council Members to resign their positions for the betterment of the City of Toledo; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That Toledo City Council implores Council Members Harper, Johnson, Riley and Sykes to resign their positions effective immediately, and use this as a first step toward repairing the destruction to fabric of Toledo City Council and start to repair the relationship between Council and the Citizens of the City of Toledo.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
