SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The City of Toledo, Division of Parks and Recreation is seeking authorization to establish a program to allow individuals to honor and/or memorialize a loved one or person important to their community. The Division has worked diligently to upgrade the condition of the city's park amenities and that is being reflected in the desire of residents to utilize park benches and trees as a means to remember their loved ones. The proposed program will formalize the application, bench styles, approvals, costs, and terms of the memorial. Proceeds from the memorial program will be deposited into the Parkland Replacement Fund to offset of the costs of ongoing park improvement initiatives.

Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to establish a memorial bench/tree program in Toledo City Parks including the establishment of processes, procedures, and costs associated with the management of said program.

SECTION 2. That the Finance Director is authorized to accept and deposit the memorial payments into Parkland Replacement Fund, Account Code 2006-40100-.

SECTION 3. That this Ordinance, being an emergency measure, shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
