SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
This ordinance authorizes the acceptance, deposit, appropriation, and expenditure of $155,523.55 from the United States Department of Justice/ Bureau of Justice Assistance/Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program. The grant will be used for much needed upgrades to the firing range. There is no local match to receive the grant.
Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the mayor is authorized to enter into a grant agreement and to accept and deposit grant proceeds from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (originating from the United States Department of Justice/ Bureau of Justice Assistance/Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program 2018-JG-LE-1000 Federal Justice Assistance Grant) in the amount of $155,523.55 into the Operation Grants Funds.
SECTION 2. That the appropriation of $155,523.55 is authorized from the unappropriated grant proceeds of the Operation Grants Fund to Account Code 2016-52000-3G07703STDSTD; and the expenditure of same is authorized for the purchase of firing range upgrades.
SECTION 3. That the Finance Director is authorized to draw his warrant or warrants against the above mentioned Account Code in an amount not to exceed $155,523.55 in payment of the obligations hereinabove authorized by the terms of the grant upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property, and to expedite the receipt and expenditure of grant funding.
