SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

This Ordinance authorizes expending an amount not to exceed $1,050,000 from the appropriated CIP funds for the improvement and/or replacement of major mechanical systems.

 

The Division of Fleet and Facilities has identified the following roofs for replacement; the Mechanic’s garage at Water Distribution, the Administrative section of Water Distribution, the mechanical room at Willys pool. In addition, the following HVAC units are recommended for replacement; Vehicle storage garage at Water Distribution, the Administrative section of Water Distribution, Parks facility located on Ketchum, Ottawa Park Administrative building, and the Greenwood shelter house. Additionally, this Ordinance authorizes expenditure of funds for emergencies, which may include but are not limited to the following; Plumbing - hot water tanks, fixtures, roof repairs and replacements, sewers, street lighting, and HVAC failures.

 

Funds are available for expenditure from the approved 2023 Capital Improvement Fund budget.

 

Summary

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

                     SECTION 1.  That an amount not to exceed $1,050,000 is authorized for expenditure from the Capital Improvement Fund, Account Code 5040-26100-8CB2303HVACMA for the improvement and/or replacement of major mechanical systems and other improvements at various city facilities.

 

                     SECTION 2. That the Mayor is authorized to accept bids and award contracts for the purposes specified in Section 1, upon terms and conditions acceptable to the Director of Public Service and the Director of Law.

 

                     SECTION 3.                     That the Director of Finance is authorized to draw his or her warrant or warrants against the Account Code in Section 1 in payment of the above authorized obligations in an amount not to exceed $1,050,000 upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers

 

SECTION 4.                     That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that the same is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for further reason that the Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to allow the timely improvements and/or replacement of major mechanical systems and other improvements at city-owned facilities.
