Title

Authorizing the expenditure of an amount not to exceed $25,000 annually from the General Fund for professional building inspection services provided through a Mutual Aid Agreement with Lucas County; and declaring an emergency.

 

Body

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

 

Lucas County and the City of Toledo from time to time need additional building official, inspection, and plan review services and are willing to provide the same to their respective departments. The County and City shall each provide to the other supplemental plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building inspection, and plans examination services by their state-certified Building Inspector and their state-certified Plans Examiner on an “as needed” basis for emergency situations only. The CBO (Chief Building Official) or Commissioner from each department will determine if and when such service can be provided.

 

 

Summary

NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

                     SECTION 1. The annual expenditure of an amount not to exceed $25,000 is authorized from the General Fund, Account Code 1001-56300-5652001STDSTD, for professional building inspection services provided through a Mutual Aid Agreement with Lucas County.

 

SECTION 2.  That the Director of Finance is authorized to issue his warrant or warrants against the above Account Code in an amount not to exceed $25,000 in payment of the above authorized obligations upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.

 

SECTION 3. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.  The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for the further reason that this ordinance must be immediately effective in order to timely address any vacancies in the Division of Building Inspection.
