Body
SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
Section 594 of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 1999 authorizes USACE to provide design and/or construction assistance to non-Federal interests for carrying out water-related environmental infrastructure and resource protection and development projects in the State of Ohio. The City of Toledo has been allocated funding through the Section 594 EI Program and is invited to enter into a Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) with USACE for design and construction-related assistance to be used to rebuild belt filter presses and related equipment.
The Section 594 EI Program requires a 20% cost share from the non-Federal sponsor, and USACE project costs are considered part of the total project cost and subject to cost share. The total project cost is $1,100,000. The total federal share is $880,000. The City’s cost share is $220,000. Legislation to appropriate and expend the city share was passed in 2023.
