Recognizing Jaden Jefferson for using his love of writing to help lead him to a life-long career as a Multimedia Journalist by changing lives of those around him.
Summary
WHEREAS, on this 12th day of November, 2019, we recognize Jaden Jefferson, an 11 year old who has captured the hearts of many, nationally and internationally; and
WHEREAS, Jaden was recognized in the spring of 2019, by several City Council members when he attended a mock council meeting with his school, Maumee Valley Country Day School, in the chambers of the City of Toledo City Council; and
WHEREAS, Jaden writes, edits and posts his own news stories to his: YouTube channel, Jaden Reports NOW; Twitter, Jaden _Reports; Instagram, Jaden_Reports, and his Facebook page, Jaden Jefferson; and
WHEREAS, Jaden has been seen on: CNN at the Fox Theater with Brooke Baldwin during the Democratic Debates in July, 2019; MSNBC with Ari Melber; Fox News with Dana Perino; The Ellen Show with Ellen Degeneres; Univision, Now This, and MTV; and
WHEREAS, in August, 2019, Jaden had a dedicated segment air on CBS This Morning, which was reported by Mola Lenghi, called “A More Perfect Union”; he’s been interviewed internationally by: Radio New Zealand; Charles Adler Tonight, Canada; had a newspaper article, “Zero Hora”, written about him by Joao Praetzel, Brazil and numerous other articles; and
WHEREAS, Jaden takes what he does as a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ), very seriously; he asks questions to get to the truth, the facts and be a source of information. NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That Toledo City Council commends Jaden Jefferson for using his love of writing to help lead him to a life-long career as a MMJ by “changing lives of those around him for the positive”.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
