Body

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

The City of Toledo, Division of Educational Engagement and Workforce Development has been awarded funding from the ServeOhio Service Learning Institute to support youth programming. The grant award comes as part of Dr. Covington’s selection to participate in 2025-26 Service Learning Institute cohort. The grant funding will be used to support the Seeds to Service program through which middle school students will grow and process herbs into wellness products such as teas, scrubs, and balms while gaining skills in entrepreneurship, environmental literacy, and workforce readiness. The project also engages families through educational workshops and gives back to the community by donating products to local shelters, empowering students to serve as modern-day changemakers.
