Title

Authorizing the budget neutral reappropriation of $300,000 in the Municipal Garage Fund Fleet Operations budget for vehicle repair parts and materials; and declaring an emergency.

Body

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

As the City’s fleet of vehicles and equipment ages, the cost to maintain that fleet continues to increase.  The requested reappropriation utilizes salary savings from unfilled positions to supplement the budget for repair parts for vehicles and equipment. The reappropriation will allow City employees to repair and service the City’s fleet thereby reducing downtime and losses in productivity without requiring additional funding in the Municipal Garage Fund budget.

Summary

NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the disappropriation of $300,000 is authorized from the Municipal Garage Fund Account Code 7086-25000-1147001STDSTD (Wages and Fringes Accounts) and the appropriation of same is authorized to the Municipal Garage Fund Account Code 7086-25000-1147001STDSTD (Repair Parts and Materials for Equipment Account).

SECTION 2.                      That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that the same is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for further reason that the Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to continue uninterrupted maintenance and repairs of the City’s fleet of vehicles and equipment.
