SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council has recommended to the Office of Criminal Justice Services an award to the City of Toledo of $30,001.52 from grant funds under the 2025-WF-VA3-8841 Violence Against Women Act Program (VAWA) to continue the Toledo Police Special Victims Unit - Domestic Violence Office.  The grant funds will be used to fund training and overtime for domestic violence investigations.  There is no cash match. There is an in-kind match of $10,000.50, which is a portion of the assigned officers’ salary.

 

Summary

NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into an agreement with the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council and to accept and deposit Violence Against Women Act Grant proceeds in the amount of $30,001.52 into the Operation Grants Fund Account Code 2016-52000-3G07346STDSTD for the Toledo Police Department Special Victims Unit - Domestic Violence Office.

 

SECTION 2.  That the appropriation of $30,001.52 from the unappropriated grant proceeds of the Operation Grants Fund is authorized to Account Code 2016-52000-3G07346STDSTD; and the expenditure of same is authorized for the Toledo Police Department Special Victims Unit - Domestic Violence Office.

 

SECTION 3.  That the Finance Director is authorized to draw their warrant or warrants against the above-mentioned Account Code in an amount not to exceed $30,001.52 in payment of the obligations authorized above by the terms of the grant upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.

 

SECTION 4.  This Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage.  The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective to satisfy grant requirements.

 

Vote on emergency clause:  yeas 10 nays 0.
