Recognizing New Leaf Group, Inc. (NLG) for their important contributions to the lives of many in the Toledo community.
Summary
WHEREAS, in 2015, New Leaf Group, Inc. (NLG) started and became a nonprofit in 2017; and
WHEREAS, NLG’s motto is “Saving one community at a time” and their ministry is “Live to Serve, Serve to Live”; and
WHEREAS, the vision is to connect youth, women and men within the community to mental health services, support resources and to provide for those experiencing food insecurities; and
WHEREAS, these things have been achieved through NLG’s mission statement; “To educate and empower youth, women and men to develop positive outlooks on life, have a strong sense of purpose and become productive citizens within the home and community”; and
WHEREAS, NLG’s methodology is through conducting interactive life sessions with men, women and youth, through TALK Non-Violence, Books & Basketball and feeding a 100-125 homeless monthly; and
WHEREAS, the community connection is through weekly sessions in a classroom setting and/or on the streets, which are facilitated by specialists from people throughout the community that have survived violence and/or have suffered because of their own decisions of not being non-violent, mental wellness, recovery professionals, while connecting with food services to meet the needs of people that are suffering from hunger; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That New Leaf Group, Inc. (NLG) is recognized for their important contributions to improving the lives of many in the Toledo community.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
