SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The City of Toledo has successfully applied for and received grant funding from ODOT to remove the Central Ave. Bridge over Buckeye St. and embankment and roadway construction project. The City of Toledo will administer the construction of the project. Matching funds will be provided through the Division of Road and Bridge Maintenance Matches and Planning budget. Construction for this project is scheduled for 2026.
Summary
NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into a cooperative agreement with ODOT and to accept and deposit federal grant proceeds in an amount not to exceed $1,735,661 into Account Code 540G-23100-8GA8648STDSTD for the removal of the Central Ave. Bridge over Buckeye St. project upon such terms and conditions as approved by the Director of Transportation and the Director of Law.
SECTION 2. That the appropriation of an amount not to exceed $1,735,661 is authorized from the unappropriated grant proceeds in the Capital Improvement Fund to Account Code 540G-23100-8GA8648STDSTD; and the expenditure of the same is authorized for the removal of the Central Ave. Bridge over Buckeye St. project.
SECTION 3. That the Mayor is authorized to accept bids and award contracts for the removal of the Central Ave. Bridge over Buckeye St. project, upon such terms and conditions acceptable to the Director of Transportation and the Director of Law.
SECTION 4. That the Finance Director is authorized to draw their warrant or warrants against the above Account Codes in an amount not to exceed $1,735,661 in payment of the obligations authorized above upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.
SECTION 5. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to meet project deadlines for removal of the Central Ave. Bridge over Buckeye St. project.
